Perl support

Postby linuxninja39 » Wed Jul 28, 2010 5:20 pm

I am writing code in Perl. I've found documentation that was updates as late as Jul 20, 2010 regarding using perl. However the link in the document takes me to a download page that has perl code from 2008. And this page indicates that the downloadable code is depreciated.

Is the "3.0" client code safe to use?
When will there be a a new release of of a perl toolkit or client?

Greetings LinuxNinja!

"Is the "3.0" client code safe to use? "

I believe that you're referring to:

http://opensrs.com/resources/domains/api-toolkits

Is this correct? If so, then yes, the 3.0.0 libraries are definitely safe to use, but it is indeed deprecated. Currently, there are no plans to replace the Perl toolkits at this time. This may be re-evaluated later on, though. :-)

I hope that helps.

Cheers,
Claire

If all you want is a simple perl interface to OpenSRS then perhaps Net::OpenSRS would suit if you can live with the assumptions the developer uses.

I'm currently helping develop another perl module (Net::DomainRegistration::Simple) which includes OpenSRS support via the above module as well as support for a couple of other registries. See http://github.com/simoncozens/Net-DomainRegistration-Simple for the current state. While it's not released yet it is functional for most domain operations.
